He started his career in his hometown, Detroit, in 1982 - playing, writing, and recording in the vibrant punk rock scene. He moved to New York in 1987 in the thick of the Hip Hop movement, and then to the recording mecca of Los Angeles in 2004. In 2015 engineered GRAMMY-winning Best Metal Performance for the Ghost song "Cirice." He relocated to Pittsburgh to focus on producing and mixing in his newly established Wood Hollow studio.
