Γιώργος Φωτίδας

Yorgos Fotidas was a Greek rebetiko lyricist. Born in 1906 in Athens, Greece - Died 7 February 1952 in Athens, Greece.

He was born in Psyrrí, an Athens neibourhood. He worked as sales clerk and wrote lyrics amateurly. The store he worked in was across from the dealership of [a=Μίνως Μάτσας]. There he met his future wife, [a4442898], who was a [a=Μίνως Μάτσας] employee. Through her, he came into contact with the world of music and became friends with [a=Μάρκος Βαμβακάρης], [a=Στράτος Παγιουμτζής], [a=Απόστολος Χατζηχρήστος], [a954017], [a=Στέλιος Κερομύτης], [a=Μπαγιαντέρας], [a=Βασίλης Τσιτσάνης] et al. Shortly before the German occupation, he became sick of tubercolosis. After the war, his health deteriorated and he died in 1952 after suffering a heart attack at the age of 46.

In 1931, he married Athiná Pagaláki. They never had children.

This claim is also supported by Minos Matsas' son, [a=Μάκης Μάτσας].
