Leroy Sibbles

Reggae singer, songwriter & bassist.

Born: January 29, 1949 in Kinsgston, Jamaica

In his book "Bass Culture" writer Lloyd Bradley describes Sibbles as one of the most important figures in the development of reggae music. Why? Mainly because in his role as [a=Clement "Coxsone" Dodd]'s right hand man at Studio One, he played a part, either as arranger, bassist, producer or songwriter on virtually every Studio One release and was a key bridge between rocksteady and reggae.

On leaving Studio One, he worked extensively with [a=Lee Perry] and later emigrated to Canada (in 1973).
