Mai Jones

Welsh songwriter, musician, entertainer and radio producer.

Born 6 February 1899 in Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales.

Died 7 May 1960 in St. Mark's Crescent, Newport.

Jones entered show business as an accordionist and music hall entertainer. She was noted for transforming the local radio show, "Welsh Rarebit" from regional level to national status.

Successful songs written by Mai Jones included: "Blackbirds" (1924), "Wondering If You Remember" (1927), "We'll Keep a Welcome" (1940), "Nos Da/Good night" (1946) and "Rhondda Rhapsody" (1951).
