Paul Gayten

American rhythm and blues bandleader, pianist, record company executive, producer and songwriter, born January 29, 1920 in Kentwood, Louisiana; died March 26, 1991 in Los Angeles, California (bleeding ulcers).

Leader of one of the most popular New Orleans orchestras in the 40s Paul Gayten was also the nephew of [a=Little Brother Montgomery]. He led a varied career in the music business as producer, label owner, and one-time overseer of the West Coast operation of Chess Records.
