Dean Boysen
Dean Boysen is an accomplished trumpeter, recording artist, music composer and an arranger. His record album credits number in the dozens. He was a signed recording artist with the group Collage under the SOLAR records label, distributed by Elektra/Aysylm Reocrds. Dean has performed and recorded with many other popular national music artists such as Con Funk Shun, Carl Carlton, Bill Summers and Summers Heat, The Whispers, Sylvester, and more. He also has performed in various shows such as the The Bay Area Music Awards, and in concerts including The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Whispers, Sylvester, Huey Lewis and the News, Third World, Dr. Loco’s Rockin’ Jalapeño Band, etc. Dean Boysen is the Artistic Director for the BRAZZISSIMO! 10-piece brass ensemble - since 2012. Dean has been writing and performing for the ensemble for twenty-four years contributing in excess of forty original compositions and arrangements. In addition to brass dectet music, he writes for the brass quintet and trio, woodwind ensembles, big band, and orchestra. Dean began playing professionally at the age of 16 (1974) which included nightclub top-forty band work, Marriott's Great America theme park musician, and that of studio musician (1976 -1983). Current responsibilities include: Principal Trumpet for The Diablo Symphony Orchestra (2018-current) and performs regularly with the California Pops Orchestra, Gabriel's Heraldic Trio, and The Musical Toy Soldiers and two local Municipal Bands.
Performance and writing genres include: Jazz, Funk/Soul, Latin, Pops, Classical and Brass Chamber music.
