Soul singer

Born on 26 February 1946, in Port Arthur, Texas, USA.

She moved to San Francisco Bay area where she met [a=Sly Stone], as her aunt sang in a group with him. When Sly heard her singing [a=Carla Thomas]' "Gee Whiz" he formed a group for her [a=Gloria Scott & The Tonettes] and wrote the two sides of their single "I Taught Him". After this, Scott started singing as back up singer for [a=Ike & Tina Turner] as a member of Ikettes and later in the early 70's she caught the attention of [a=Barry White] that signed her to his label [l=Soul Unlimited] and licensed her debut album to [l=Casablanca]. Although her non album single "Just As Long As We're Together" was a hit in 1974, she never released a second album, though she had signed a seven years' deal with [a=Barry White]'s label.
