Ralph Möbius
German musician, born January 9th, 1950 in Berlin, Germany - died August 20th, 1996 in Fresenhagen, Germany.
Möbius was best known as a member of German Rock band [a=Ton Steine Scherben], under the alias [a134534].
He grew up in the city of Rodgau, near Frankfurt. His schoolmates were [a806793] and his sister [a627426], who was also friend with [a627435]. The latter persons were later part of the community of Möbius, either as part of his band or members of the community in Friesenhagen, where they lived together in the 1970's.
In 1966, Steitz and Möbius started to play music together. Their first band, a Beat cover band, was called "Beat Kings", which was followed the same year by "De Galaxis", a Rock group with own songs. Möbius, who was doing training as photographer in Offenbach cancelled his apprenticeship and moved together with Steitz to Berlin in 1967. Steitz got an invitation for joining [a4940424]. He and Möbius joined the ensemble, where also the brothers of Ralph Möbius, [a992430] and [a1083883] were in leading positions of the ensemble.Their first project was a Rock opera called "Robinson 2000".
When in 1969, apprentices joined the group as actors for leftwing plays, the group split and the second ensemble called [a15115190] was founded. Möbius joined the latter and soon became artistic leader for the ensembles' music group called "Theaterband der Roten Steine". When the band searched for a new name for recording purposes, the name [a312358] was chosen. At that time, Möbius operated under his moniker [a134534], which soon was his commonly known name. The name itself was derived from "Anton Reiser", a protagonist from a novel by Philipp Reiser.
