Founded [i]The Black Spectrum Theater[/i] in 1970 in Queens, New York as a traveling cast of performing arts, centered around African American students.

Clay has produced over 100 theatrical productions, 17 short films, 150 plays, in addition to 20 jazz productions, with influential artist like Roy Ayers and Roberta Flack.
