James "D-Train" Williams

James Nelson Williams (born January 21, 1962, in Brooklyn, New York City), better known by his stage name D-Train, is an American singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, producer, and actor.

As a teenager attending Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, Williams developed into a talented defensive tackle on the football field and became known for the force of his hits. Teammates joked that being tackled by him felt like being hit by the MTA's Brooklyn subway line, the D Train, earning him a nickname that would eventually become his professional artist name.
