AXL BEATS

AXL Beats is a British record producer from East London, best known for his contributions to UK and Brooklyn drill. Emerging from East London’s Manor Park area, AXL is part of a generation of producers who helped take the UK drill sound beyond Britain, most notably to Brooklyn, New York. His production credits include collaborations with Pop Smoke, Fivio Foreign, Sheff G, PNV Jay, 22Gz and Drake.

Arriving on the scene in late 2016, AXL developed a distinctive production style that blended the dark, atmospheric foundations of Chicago drill with the sliding 808s, intricate rhythms and manipulated vocal samples associated with the evolving UK sound. He initially built an audience by releasing and selling cinematic instrumentals through YouTube before his production began gaining traction with artists in New York.

AXL went on to contribute to several notable records from Brooklyn’s emerging drill movement, helping establish a musical connection between the UK and New York scenes. As Brooklyn drill developed its own identity, his production became part of the sound that helped define the genre’s formative years.
