Midnight Juggernauts
Midnight Juggernauts are an indie electro-pop synth rock Melbourne-based band who formed in 2004.
The group was initialy conceived in 2003 by Vincent Heimann and Andy Szekeres, two high school students, who had connected through gigging in "ignominious bands" & had become enamoured of electronic music after discovering Daft Punk. The duo was joined by Sydneysider Daniel Stricker (formerly of Sydney band The Valentinos/Lost Valentinos) in 2007, which finalised their lineup.
Following the release of numerous 7" and 12" singles, and limited edition EPs & after having organically built a devoted fanbase notably through myspace, they released, that same year (2007) their debut album, Dystopia, published on their own indie label, [l=Siberia]/[l=Siberia Records]. French electronic act [a=Justice (3)] referred to the the Australian band as one of their favorites, which increased their popularity and sales and made them one of most promising Australian bands of the 2000s. The two groups eventually toured North America together, and Dystopia was released internationally in mid-2008. The Crystal Axis, a more prog rock-influenced album, debuted in 2010, followed by their last album Uncanny Valley in 2013 on renowned French label [l=Record Makers].
They have remixed tracks for Tame Impala, Johnny Cash, the Presets, Kavinsky, Sébastien Tellier, Electric Six, Damn Arms, K.I.M., Dragonette, and others.
Being true to their DIY / indie / myspace roots, the band's produced their own music and their visuals were handled by multidisciplinary artist Vincent Heimann.
Although the band hasn't disbanded, they have been in an indefinite hiatus (qualified as "hibernation" on official social media accounts) since 2014, shortly after their last release, the "Aerials EP," with occasional DJ appearances.
