Chappell Roan
American pop singer-songwriter, known for her sound inspired by 1980s synth-pop and early 2000s pop, as well as her aesthetic influenced by camp and drag. Born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz in Willard, Missouri on February 19, 1998, Chappell Roan (IPA: /ˌtʃæpəl ˈɹoʊn/) chose her stage name as a combination of the name of her grandfather, Dennis K. Chappell, who died of brain cancer, and a word taken from his favorite song, "The Strawberry Roan" by [a1791599].
Roan released her debut EP [m=3526709] under [l681] in 2017 after first gaining attention in 2014. Her intended debut album was planned for release in 2018 but was indefinitely shelved. Continuing her work with Nigro, Roan started releasing music independently in 2022 and opening [a=Olivia Rodrigo] shows. She embarked on her first headline tour in February 2023, and in September she released her actual debut album [m=3255691] after signing with [l3589090] and [l8377]. Over six months later, in April 2024, the album entered the Billboard 200. In 2025, Chappell Roan won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
