The Gregg Allman Band, formed in 1975 by Allman Brothers co-founder Gregg Allman, channeled raw southern rock with bluesy soul, extended jams, and heartfelt vocals during the Allman Brothers' hiatus.

Active primarily through 1982 with sporadic reunions, they released key albums like Playin' Up a Storm (1977) and Just for the Thrill of It (1980) on Capricorn Records, highlighting Allman's signature organ grooves and guitar-driven intensity post-Duane Allman and Berry Oakley tragedies. A pivotal chapter in southern rock legacy.
