Ricky Skaggs

American country and bluegrass singer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and arranger, born July 18, 1954 in Cordell, Kentucky, USA. Married to [a714000].

Skaggs showed prowess at an early age, playing mandolin on stage with [a450691] aged 5, and appearing on TV with [a953862] at 7. He emerged as a professional bluegrass musician in 1971, when he and [a730693] joined [a448037]'s band [a1355815]. He went on to record and perform with [a356096] and [a2550329], and led [a2021919], which featured [a305847], before turning to more mainstream county in the late 1970s when he replaced [a447620] in [a83609]' [a314678].

Inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame, the IBMA Hall of Fame and the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in 2018.
