Kitu Sewer
Kitu Sewer is a pioneering Kenyan rapper, poet, and activist best known as a member of the legendary hip-hop collective Ukoo Flani Mau Mau and one half of the acclaimed rap duo Mashifta (alongside Sati).
Coming up from Dandora, the birthplace of Kenyan hip-hop, Kitu Sewer built his name on sharp lyricism, street wisdom, and socially conscious storytelling. Through Mashifta and Ukoo Flani, he helped define the sound and spirit of Kenyan hip-hop — blending Swahili, Sheng, and deep political insight into raw, poetic verses.
Kitu Sewer’s music speaks truth to power, touching on urban struggle, corruption, spirituality, and Pan-African pride. His impact extends beyond rap — he’s a cultural voice, mentor, and one of the most respected lyricists to ever emerge from East Africa’s underground hip-hop scene.
